Guitarist Tim Cummiskey Central Ohio guitarist and Educator Tim Cummiskey performs as both a leader and a sideman throughout the Midwest. Tim currently leads several groups ranging from solo jazz and classical guitar to larger group configurations. As a sideman, Tim has performed and/or conducted clinics with John Abercrombie, Howard Alden, Carl Allen, Clay Aiken, Gene Bertoncini, Chris Buzzelli, Barbara Cook, Michael Feinstein, Benny Golson, Tim Hagans, Ingrid Jensen, Robert Klien, Romero Lubambo, Hank Marr, Lee Oskar, Patti Page, Rick Peckham, Bucky Pizzarelli, Debbie Reynolds, Neil Sedaka, Russell Watson, Jack Wilkins, Frank Vignola, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra among Others. In addition to his busy performance schedule, Tim Has conducted clinics at the annual convention of the International Association of Jazz Educators, Bowling Green State University, The Ohio State University, Capital University, Denison University and Kenyon College. Tim has 2 recordings on the String Jazz label, Alone Together and Redeeming the Time. Of ‘Alone Together’ Gene Bertoncini remarked ‘I love the clarity and articulation of Tin’s melodic and harmonic ideas’... Bucky Pizzarelli said of Tim’s 2nd CD ‘Redeeming the Time’’ “‘I have listened to this album from beginning to end, Tim is a plectrum master, he has arrived”. Tim’s first book released in 2005 by Mel Bay “Learning Tunes Workout” has received critical acclaim and popular appeal. His latest recording “Kindred” is a collaboration with Jazz Guitar Mater Jack Wilkins. Tim currently serves as a member of the jazz studies faculty of the Ohio State University School of Music and served on the music faculty of Kenyon College for 6 years. Tim currents serves on the music ministry team of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church under the direction and apprenticeship of renown church and liturgical composer Craig Courtney. Tim is also a contribution writer to Downbeat Magazine, Jazz Improv and Just Jazz Guitar Magazine. Tim is a MelBay Author.
